Google Duo: New video chat app from the search Giant

unnamed

Google on Tuesday launched Google Duo, putting it directly against Apple Incorporation"s FaceTime, which allows video calls only between Apple devices.

The search giant (google) has released a new video call service called Duo that will take on other apps like FaceTime(Available only for iphone users), Skype and Facebook Messenger. Google hopes that it can beat out those other services with two main things

  1. being available on every platform

  2. offering a special feature called “Knock, knock”.

Now what is knock knock feature in this google video calling app Duo

Knock Knock feature means that when someone is ringing, they come up on the screen before the call is answered. That lets the person being called see who’s ringing them  but it doesn’t show anything from the camera until the user actually answers the call.

Google said video calls would work even on slower networks by easily reducing the resolution to keep the call going smoothly.

For video calls on the go, Duo will switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data automatically without dropping your call, Justin Uberti, principal software engineer, wrote in a blog post.
